Google Recognition

While looking over the traffic stats for our website today I seen that we are finally getting recognition from Google. I noticed that there were three hits referred to us from Google and the keywords that were used to find us were: You-Cubez tips, Squidoo Neobux, and Neobux extended view, which is awesome because it means that the work that I’ve been doing to the site over the past week or so has really paid off.

After a while of not seeing any referral traffic from google’s search engine I decided it was time to starting digging to figure out what was going on. I found several things that may have posed a problem and as a result kept this site from showing up in the listings, as well as other guidelines that I was not previously aware of which could have possibly got this site black listed so that it would never be indexed by google.

There is a free tool that I have been neglecting for sometime that really helped me figure some things out which is Google’s Webmaster Tools. From using this free tool I was able to find out that indeed I was not in google’s index and my site had not been crawled. I was also able to find the cause  was my robots.txt file. This file was set to disallow search engines from crawling our website.

I then proceed to search my directory for a file named robots.txt, but I was unable to find it, so it dawned on me that maybe it had something to do with wordpress and after searching all the settings I came to find that I was correct. Under privacy in the settings category there is actually an option for blog visibility and for some reason unknown to me the bubble for “I would like to block search engines, but allow normal visitors” was checked, so I checked the option “I would like my blog to be visible to everyone, including search engines (like Google, Sphere, Technorati) and archivers” and proceeded back to the free webmaster tools and into the robots.txt analyzer, only to find that google still sees us as blocking all search engines via robots.txt file.

I decided then that I would create a new robots.txt file with the allow code that the webmaster tools had provided and drop it into our root directory (since I wasn’t able to find one in there I figured it couldn’t hurt). While on the hunt for answers I also came across Google’s Webmaster Guidelines which helped me better understand things like the NoFollow tag, Backlinks, and Paid links.

Paid links are when you offer to put an advertisers ad on your site for a certain amount, google’s guidelines say that when you do this, you should always add a nofollow to the end of their url. This is basically to keep people from trying to buy a higher page ranking. Nofollow is an attribute you add to the end of a url which looks something like this <a href=”http://www.example.com” rel=”nofollow”> this instructs google not to affect the websites ranking in the search engine index.

So there you have it, hopefully this might help someone else get recognized by Google. Oh yes and before I forget make sure you do not neglect to create a XML Sitemap and submit your Sitemap to Google through the webmaster tools, make sure to check back after awhile because they will tell you if there is any issues that could possible keep Google from crawling your site.

I would like to thank everyone who reads and contributes to this blog. I would also like to thank everyone that has helped make us a profit from either signing up to one of our money making programs or even clicking on images or ads on this site. You are all wonderful people who we appreciate very much and I hope you all enjoy this site and maybe learn something new.

Link Directory

We just added a new Link Directory
Free reciprocal links which means you add our link to your page and we will add your website or blog link and description to our directory.
If you do not want to add our link but are still interested in using our directory, we have 2 paid options as well. This is a great service for those who are trying to get more exposure.

(Here is a little SEO tip.) In my experience there are three main things that contribute to getting a high page ranking with search engines, which are frequent updates of original content, quality backlinks and traffic (in that order). Once you have those everything else should start flowing naturally.

Also keep in mind the keywords your looking to hit on when people are searching for your site. Its a good idea to edit your meta tags in the <head>  with the keywords you want the search engines to pick up on.

Anyway feel free to add all of your websites and blogs to the directory, excluding adult content of course. (each listing is hand reviewed so don’t waste your time or ours posting things that are inappropriate, thanks)

We are still trying to find or create a template for the directory that matches the look and feel of the entire site. If anyone wants to help please let us know.

You can find the directory on our site by clicking on the directory tab or you can just CLICK HERE for a shortcut that will open in a new window.

If you are looking for more free directories like this, I have found a list of them HERE

Coupons

It may seem a little obvious to some people but if you are trying to keep more of that hard earned cash in your pocket, coupons can play a huge roll. I’ve been working at a retail / drugstore now for a few months and seen some astronomical totals come down to almost nothing or in one case if it wasn’t against store policy we would have owed the customer money after her coupons.

Just yesterday actually I was running the front cash register and one of our regular coupon customers came in and after I rang everything up for her the total was around $80, then she pulled out all of her wonderful coupons. After I scanned all of them I was amazed to see the total reduced to only .76cents.

Our store offers coupon fliers and also takes manufacturers coupons as well, which means you can combine the store coupons with others you find in the news paper, magazines, with products and even online for a mega savings.

So my suggestion to all of you who have some extra time and want to save a great deal of money is: search for coupons on the web, in your local paper or other news papers, make sure you always pick up the fliers at the front of the stores you visit. Also keep in mind that the new deals usually come out at the beginning of the month at most stores, so try to get in early before everyone else has already grabbed the good deals, but if the item your looking for happens to be out of stock try asking a employee if there is more hidden out back or if you may get a rain-check for that item. A rain-check means you can come back to the store at any date even when that item is no longer on sale and you will still be able to receive the sale price at a later date.

You don’t have to be an old lady to make this work for you and you could be saving thousands of dollars per year. So give it a shot and let us know how much you’re saving now.
